Our story
A long-held dream found a home.
For many years, Muslim families in Aiken hoped for a masjid of their own. Several locations were considered, but none met the community’s needs at an affordable price.
In 2021, the community found a suitable property on Trolley Line Road. Its location—near USC Aiken and Aiken Regional Hospital—made it a natural gathering place. Local Muslims and supporters from the Islamic Society of Augusta came together to form the Aiken Muslim Association and purchase the property.
- Oct. 2021
The community purchased the property.
- Winter 2021–22
Volunteers cleared, leveled, repaired, painted, and prepared the prayer hall.
- March 2022
Carpet and padding completed the new prayer space.
- May 2022
Aiken Masjid welcomed around 50 people for its first Eid al-Fitr.
The property was deeded to the North American Islamic Trust in February 2022 to help preserve it as a Muslim facility for generations to come.
